Maintenance Technician, Sturgis MI

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with a strong emphasis on mechanical machine repair and electrical proficiency. This position involves working across the plant to support production through mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with prior shift technicians to address ongoing issues or start the shift with a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components such as hydraulics, pneumatics, sprockets, conveyors, and pinwheels.
  • Perform electrical work including AC/DC motors, sensors, limit switches, and wiring.
  • Repair equipment including turrets, brake presses, punch presses, and small hand tools.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance for machinery and facilities, including lights, plumbing, and painting.
  • Troubleshoot and repair CNCs, robotics, laser systems, and other production and facility machinery.
  • Accurately report technical conditions and collaborate with production and maintenance employees.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize repairs, and schedule them to completion.
  • Train employees on the use and repair of CNC and other equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, PLCs, ladder logic, and schematics.
  • Complete weekly and monthly TPMs, PMs, and PPS reports accurately and timely.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and practices 100% of the time.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of industrial machine maintenance or mechanic experience.
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in automotive/RV industries.
  • 1+ year of CNC maintenance experience.
  • 2+ years of electrical/PLC work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with general fabrication work such as welding and metalworking.
  • Experience with repairing brake presses, turret presses, paint lines, and conveyors.
  • Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC programming and editing.
  • Experience with large-scale conveyors.

Work Environment

Work in a fast-paced, highly automated plant that manufactures UPS and FedEx trucks. The environment is loud due to machinery operations, somewhat dirty with metalwork, and requires adherence to safety practices. Shift is 3rd (10:00pm-6:00am), with the plant covering roughly 600,000 sq ft.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sturgis, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
