Job Title: Mobile Engineer
Job Description
The primary role of a Mobile Engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple facilities. This position requires technical expertise in one craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations, and proficiency in others.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire Life Safety, and Control systems to ensure they meet applicable standards.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper function.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
- Perform equipment maintenance including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimal performance.
- Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
- Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification preferred.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.

Work Environment
The position involves traveling from location to location within the Traverse City area. Initially, the candidate will use their own vehicle and receive reimbursement, with a company work van provided after the initial period. A valid state driver’s license is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Traverse City, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
