Job Title: Order Picker / Packer – Wholesale Awards & Personalized Goods Warehouse
Job Description
Join a growing, family-owned wholesale warehouse that supplies trophies, awards, signs, and personalized items to customers nationwide. In this role you start as an order picker and receive cross-training in packing, inventory, and basic computer work. You accurately pick items from a catalog-based system, prepare them for shipment, and help keep the warehouse organized and running smoothly. The focus is on quality and accuracy over speed, with a consistent weekday schedule and a supportive, close-knit team.
Responsibilities
- Receive and review paper pick tickets for customer orders and verify details against the catalog.
- Walk throughout the warehouse to locate products and match part numbers accurately to the pick ticket.
- Use a push cart to gather items from various locations in the warehouse for each order.
- Lift boxes and products weighing up to approximately 30 pounds on a consistent basis.
- Climb ladders up to 12–15 feet to retrieve items stored on higher shelves when needed.
- Work with a paper-based picking system (no RF scanners), following established, “old school” processes.
- Visually check and verify parts and quantities before orders move to packing to ensure high accuracy.
- Learn and perform daily inventory tasks, including cycle counts and basic inventory adjustments.
- Perform packing duties by placing items into appropriate boxes, adding necessary materials, and securely taping boxes for shipment.
- Complete light computer work related to inventory and order processing using a simple internal system.
- Rotate between picking and packing as needed based on daily workflow and business demands.
- Assist with side duties such as cutting plastic trophies and participating in general facility cleanup as part of the team.
- Support warehouse operations during peak seasons (especially April through June and days following holidays) by maintaining strong attendance and productivity.
- Once hired directly and trained, operate additional warehouse equipment such as a cherry picker and sit-down forklift as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including proper ladder use and safe lifting techniques, to maintain a safe work environment.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and understand pick tickets and packing slips in English with strong attention to detail.
- Capability to walk and stand for the entire duration of an 8.5-hour shift while moving throughout a large warehouse.
- Comfort and physical ability to climb ladders up to 12–15 feet to access products on higher shelves.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience driving a sit-down forklift (Hilo) in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Ability to consistently lift and move items up to approximately 30 pounds.
- Basic comfort with simple computer systems for inventory and order-related tasks.
- Strong focus on quality and accuracy over speed when picking and packing orders.
- Reliability and commitment to working the scheduled Monday–Friday day shift and being present on days following holidays.
- Willingness to perform both picking and packing duties and to adapt to changing daily priorities.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a small, team-oriented warehouse environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with warehouse picking, packing, and general labor duties.
- Experience in warehouse inventory processes, including cycle counting and stock verification.
- Familiarity with using paper-based order systems rather than RF scanners.
- Comfort working on ladders and in a large, quiet warehouse setting.
- Openness to cross-training on additional equipment such as a cherry picker and forklift after being hired directly.
- Willingness to participate in facility housekeeping and team-based tasks such as cleaning and organizing.
- Ability to follow dress code guidelines while prioritizing comfort and safety.
- Interest in long-term growth opportunities into lead or assistant manager roles across multiple locations.
Why Work Here?
You join a stable, family-owned company with a strong track record of job security and a close-knit, supportive culture. Once hired directly, you gain access to comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and short- and long-term disability, effective the first of the month after conversion. The paid time off structure is highly rewarding, with PTO earned each pay period and additional incentive PTO tied to team accuracy and individual performance, allowing you to accrue significant time that can also be paid out if unused. Performance-based bonuses during the busy season, annual holiday bonuses, and thoughtful gestures such as Thanksgiving gifts and branded gear reinforce a culture of appreciation. Regular potlucks, snack Fridays during peak months, and yearly evaluations with potential raises further highlight a people-focused environment that promotes from within and offers opportunities to apply for internal openings across multiple locations.
Work Environment
The role is based in a large, spacious, and well-lit warehouse that operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Weekend work or staying past 5:30 p.m. is very rare, and when work is completed early, volunteers may leave while still being guaranteed 40 hours. The warehouse is typically quiet, and team members may listen to radios while they work, provided cell phones remain put away during work hours in accordance with company policy. Work is primarily physical, involving walking, standing, pushing carts, lifting up to about 30 pounds, and climbing 12–15-foot ladders. Processes are intentionally straightforward and paper-based, with simple computer systems used for inventory tasks. The team environment is tight-knit and friendly, with colleagues and leadership willing to help and collaborate. The dress code is informal and comfort-focused: employees may wear sweats, hoodies, jeans, shorts, or khakis, as long as attire is appropriate and provides adequate coverage. Tennis shoes or boots are suitable footwear, and steel-toe boots are not required. The culture emphasizes respect, teamwork, and enjoying time at work, supported by shared cleaning responsibilities, team activities, and a hands-on leadership approach.
