Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer


Job Description

The electrical designer will be responsible for managing key activities related to municipal Water/Wastewater system projects.


Responsibilities

  • Perform field investigation and condition assessment of electrical power distribution and control equipment.
  • Develop designs for electrical distribution, lighting systems, and control systems for Water and Wastewater facilities using recognized industry standards and specifications.
  • Possess preliminary knowledge of instrumentation devices such as level, pressure, temperature, and flow.
  • Conduct system calculations and studies for electrical power systems, including load flows, voltage drops, and short circuit/coordination studies using electrical analytical software like SKM Tools.
  • Attend design meetings with clients and collaborate with other design consultants working on the project.

Essential Skills

  • Working knowledge of standards and codes related to electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Moderate to good verbal and written communication abilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year of design experience post-college, preferably from an A/E firm.
  • No automotive experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is casual and informal, with a focus on flexibility and providing support to employees. You will work full-time in the office performing design and engineering work, with flexible hours for production positions. The company operates out of Detroit and has additional offices in Indianapolis, Cleveland, and South Florida. It is a Small Business Enterprise certified by various municipal entities.
