Position Profile
Responsible for quality delivery, pick-up, and relocation of customer packages and mail in a safe manner and according to customer requirements. Position requires federal DOT compliance and adherence to all Delivery Safety Standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and PO processing.
- Load and secure packages and mail in the van/truck.
- Pick up mail and packages from designated customer locations.
- Deliver mail and packages to correct delivery points.
- Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; ensure vehicle is safe, clean, and compliant with DOT and state laws.
- Participate in Safety Programs.
- Pre-call customers when applicable.
- Provide strong customer service and identify customer needs; refer calls as appropriate.
- Maintain professional appearance per site dress code.
- Ensure all paperwork is signed and processed correctly.
- Load/unload trucks as needed.
- Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines.
- Meet productivity and quality standards as outlined by manager.
- Operate warehouse equipment (forklift, stair climber, pallet jack) as required.
- Lift packages up to 50 pounds.
- Assist with training new delivery drivers on current routes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Safe driving record and history.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle per FMCSR regulations.
- Valid driver's license per company policy.
- Pass a road test.
- Valid and current medical card.
- Minimum age: 20 years; properly licensed in state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (if applicable per state).
- Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.
- Ability to handle oversized and overweight packages.
- Identify at-risk behaviors and make quick corrections.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with smartphones/tablets and electronic technology.
- Adequate reading, math, and writing skills.
- Certification on warehouse equipment operation may be required.
- Risk of serious injury if lifting/moving procedures or road rules are not followed.
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
- Physical effort required for lifting packages up to 50 pounds.
- Work assignments are diversified; ability to interpret and apply complex instructions.
- Work environment includes office, warehouse, and vehicle settings with normal lighting, ventilation, and temperature.
- Ability to work independently.
