Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer within our North American Engineering organization. You will be co-located in the Vehicle Assembly Plant, working alongside the vehicle production team. As the first line of defense, you will ensure the functional system quality of products manufactured at our assembly plant. This role involves analyzing and resolving quality issues on components shipped to the assembly plant, as well as processes within the plant and integrated remote build centers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Body Engineering team to achieve quality objectives with a strong focus on Roof Systems and Sealing Systems.
- Conduct daily reviews of incoming warranty claims data, and classify customer and dealership feedback into precise learning categories.
- Engage with dealerships for parts and repair diagnoses, and participate in customer call-backs to ensure clarity in understanding customer feedback.
- Review returned parts for root cause analysis and develop interim containment and permanent corrective actions.
- Support the assembly plant with tasks related to Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Lead engineering trials and implement running changes for the sub-system.
- Issue engineering alerts and initiate or pursue authorization for product changes to support quality objectives.
- Engage technical experts and functional team members to drive resolution and develop corrective actions to improve product quality.
- Create presentations for various levels of upper management, including Vehicle Quality Reviews and Engineering Managers reviews.
Essential Skills
- 1+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience with Sealing Systems and/or Roofing Systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Proficiency in manufacturing and quality engineering, particularly in exterior body systems.
- Ability to establish a system engineering approach to problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, including root cause identification and analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Ford Warranty systems such as ECB, BSAQ, GSAR.
- Understanding of exterior lighting or washer/wiper systems.
Work Environment
This position is based on-site at the Michigan Assembly Plant, a high-demand manufacturing environment. The plant operates with increased shifts to meet the production needs of popular models. The facility employs around 2,800 hourly workers and 200 salaried employees. Expect a fast-paced and challenging work environment with a focus on hands-on problem-solving in an engineering capacity.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wayne, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $42.30 - $46.53/hr.
