Job Title: Staff Environmental Engineer


Job Description

This position involves completing field work, permit applications, and task management for various market sectors, including electric transmission, distribution, and renewables. The role is part of the Environmental Studies group within the Environmental Services Global Practice, requiring coordination with project teams to complete field surveys, environmental permitting with federal, state, and local agencies, and reviewing necessary project reports and materials.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with project teams on field surveys and environmental permitting.
  • Advise clients and team members on strategies to obtain permits and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct wetland delineations and field investigations, including habitat evaluations for threatened and endangered species.
  • Compose technical reports presenting results from field investigations and develop applications for regulatory approvals.
  • Conduct permit compliance tasks, including federal, state, and local permit applications and agency consultations.
  • Assist project managers with field-oriented tasks, project permit tracking, and agency consultations.
  • Manage work within budget and schedule expectations for each project.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience required.
  • Experience in environmental consulting, especially within energy projects.
  • Proficiency in completing field investigations, wetland assessments, and associated permitting.
  • Ability to analyze GIS data, prepare environmental assessments, and create permitting documents.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of wetlands and aquatic resources.
  • Experience with Section 404, 401, and Section 10 permitting.
  • Familiarity with agencies governing waters of the U.S.
  • Knowledge of erosion and sediment control permitting and site restoration practices.
  • Proficiency in operating GPS equipment and GIS support software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
