Job Title: T1 Formulations Technician
Job Description
The T1 Formulations Technician supports the reagent operations testing team by performing a variety of chemical and biological tests on reagent products used as calibration materials in diagnostic medical equipment for hospitals and clinics. In this role, you spend most of your day operating specialized immunoassay analyzers and the remainder preparing run documentation, performing data analysis, and completing written reports. By following established procedures and maintaining accurate training and quality records, you help ensure that high‑quality products are manufactured in a fast‑paced, regulated environment and directly contribute to critical, real-time healthcare decisions.
Responsibilities
- Independently execute testing activities on DXI 9000, DXI 800, and Access 2 immunoassay analyzers according to operational plans and customer demand.
- Perform set-up, calibration, routine operation, and basic troubleshooting of reagent components and analytical instruments.
- Conduct testing on solutions, including measurements of pH, conductivity, and density, to verify adherence to production and process specifications.
- Prepare calibrator materials used in diagnostic medical equipment, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability of all materials produced.
- Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory and production activities, including reagent preparation, formulation, and testing.
- Use analytical and scientific methods to plan, execute, and document daily laboratory tasks with a high level of precision and attention to detail.
- Perform approximately 75% of daily work operating company-specific analyzers and about 25% performing desk-based tasks such as preparing run sheets, entering data, and writing test summaries.
- Accurately document all work performed, including test conditions, results, deviations, and observations, in laboratory notebooks, electronic systems, or other designated records.
- Maintain compliance with FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable regulatory requirements in all aspects of work.
- Handle reagents, formulations, and samples using appropriate pipetting techniques and laboratory tools to ensure precise volumes and prevent contamination.
- Support continuous adherence to quality and safety standards by promptly reporting issues, participating in investigations as requested, and helping to implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with team members while working independently on assigned tasks to meet production schedules and customer demand in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and articulate experience working with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong attention to detail and a hard-working approach, supported by references.
- Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific methods to routine laboratory tasks.
- Capability to perform solution testing such as pH, conductivity, and density measurements.
- Ability to independently operate laboratory equipment and analyzers after training.
- Strong documentation skills, including accurate recording of data and preparation of written reports.
- Ability to work effectively in a regulated manufacturing and laboratory environment while meeting production timelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or laboratory setting compliant with QSR and GMP.
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying and seeking out solutions rather than waiting for direction.
- Comfort working highly independently while still collaborating as part of a broader laboratory team.
- Experience with reagent preparation, formulation, or similar chemistry-based laboratory processes.
- Familiarity with analytical testing and data analysis to confirm that products meet defined specifications.
Work Environment
This role is based in a regulated manufacturing and laboratory environment within a large, chemistry-focused main lab. The work centers on following SOPs for the process of making calibrators, performing pipetting, conducting functional testing on analytical assays, and completing computer-based work and data analysis to ensure all products meet specifications. The position involves direct labor lab work with a high degree of independence. There are multiple shift options: first shift roles typically operate Monday through Friday with an 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule, with flexibility to start between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. after training; a second shift role operates from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in a similar Monday through Friday pattern and includes a shift differential. The environment emphasizes adherence to quality and regulatory standards, consistent use of laboratory instrumentation such as DXI 9000, DXI 800, and Access 2 immunoassay analyzers, and routine use of standard lab tools such as pipettes and measurement devices for pH, conductivity, and density.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
