Job Description
This role focuses on the design, development, packaging, testing, and integration of electrical and electronic systems and components that support advanced military applications. Working under the general direction of a project engineering lead, the Electrical Engineer contributes to electrical system design for a variety of military platforms. The position involves performing detailed engineering analysis of components, subsystems, and systems to ensure robust performance and reliability in demanding defense environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical and electronic systems and components for military applications, including combat vehicles, gun systems, and guided munitions.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis of electrical components, subsystems, and systems to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Support the packaging, testing, and integration of electrical and electronic hardware into complex military platforms.
- Create, review, and interpret electrical schematics and interconnect drawings to support design, troubleshooting, and documentation activities.
- Create and manage interface control documents to define and control electrical and electronic interfaces between subsystems and systems.
- Use circuit simulation tools such as PSpice or LTspice to model, analyze, and verify analog and digital circuit performance.
- Apply hardware design skills in analog and digital circuit design using tools such as Cadence and related EDA platforms.
- Contribute to low-level FPGA-related activities as required by the design and integration of electronic systems.
- Utilize tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and LabVIEW to support modeling, simulation, analysis, and test automation tasks.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 1 year of relevant engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree
- Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems using professional-level engineering knowledge.
- Experience creating, reading, and comprehending electrical schematics and interconnect drawings.
- Ability to create and manage interface control documents for complex systems.
- Ability to perform circuit simulation using PSpice or LTspice.
- Hands-on experience with hardware design, including analog and digital circuit design.
- Experience using Cadence or similar tools for circuit design.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey data, information, and technical results to internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink for modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW for test, measurement, and automation.
- Familiarity with computer programming languages such as C, C#, and LabWindows/CVI.
- Working knowledge of common office productivity and diagramming tools, including Visio.
- Familiarity with designing components and systems for operation in high EMI (electromagnetic interference) environments.
- Exposure to systems engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
