Job Title: Portfolio Project Manager
Job Description
The Portfolio Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution of sustaining and new development projects for the optical and acoustic gas detector product group. This role involves developing and maintaining detailed cross-functional resource and project plans, leading teams in executing project deliverables in accordance with company development procedures, and navigating project and technical challenges to ensure projects remain on-time and on-budget. The position also includes overseeing the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial design to end-of-life, including product launches and enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Manage the portfolio of projects for optical and acoustic gas detector products.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of electromechanical products, including team selection and management.
- Track and report metrics and communicate effectively with management.
- Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the organization.
- Navigate project challenges to ensure timely and budget-conscious project execution.
- Maintain strong partnerships with sourcing, test, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in project management of electromechanical products.
- Strong understanding of electrical and software engineering.
- Familiarity with product-development stage gate program governance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Experience in regulated and automotive industries.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Experience with Confluence/Jira tools and Agile Methodology.
- Advanced technical degree or MBA is a plus.
- Experience with fire and safety products and markets.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Work Environment
This role requires onsite work four days a week with one remote day and offers flexibility for certain situations. The environment is focused on engineering high technology products within the gas flames portfolio, which includes approximately 8-10 products. The work involves cross-functional collaboration with different departments and includes leading meetings and communicating with senior-level staff.
