Job Description
This role focuses on building cable assemblies from scratch in a growing cable cell area using a batching method for maximum efficiency. You rotate through multiple stations—cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering wires—working both manually and with small machines, and receive cross-training so your work stays varied and engaging.
Responsibilities
- Build cable assemblies from scratch according to documented procedures, blueprints, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform wire cutting, stripping, and crimping using both manual techniques and small machines at designated stations.
- Complete soldering tasks in accordance with IPC-610 and IPC-620 standards once certified, or immediately if you already hold current certifications.
- Rotate between stations, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering, following the batching method where each employee completes a large batch of one operation before passing it to the next station.
- Perform mechanical and electronic assembly tasks as needed to support production of medical-related instruments.
- Use hand tools and torque wrenches accurately to assemble components to specified requirements.
- Follow detailed documentation and travelers to ensure correct build sequence and traceability.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, work instructions, and SOPs to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Use computers to access build documentation, record work performed, and update production information as required.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure cables and assemblies meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Follow all ESD, safety, and facility guidelines, including wearing required PPE and adhering to policies on phone usage.
- Participate in training, use provided training materials and binders, and incorporate feedback from leadership to continuously improve skills and performance.
- Hands-on experience with cable or wire work, such as wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and cable harness assembly.
- Ability to perform or learn soldering for cable and electronic assemblies, following IPC-610 and IPC-620 standards.
- Familiarity with reading and following blueprints, travelers, and written work instructions or SOPs.
- Comfort using hand tools and torque wrenches in a production or assembly environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all assembly steps.
- Ability to work efficiently in a batching-style production process and rotate between multiple stations.
- Basic computer skills to access documentation and record production data.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed, including some Saturdays or extended days when the schedule shifts.
- IPC-610 and/or IPC-620 soldering certifications preferred but not required; the company will support certification for the right candidate.
- Previous experience in medical device, medical assembly, or regulated electronic assembly environments is a plus.
- Experience with cable harness assembly, wire stripping, wire cutting, cable crimping, and soldering is highly desirable.
- Ability to follow detailed documentation and maintain accurate records throughout the build process.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Openness to comprehensive training programs and ongoing feedback from leadership.
You join a laid-back, supportive environment that balances fast-paced, meaningful projects with a culture that values enjoyment and teamwork. The facility is fully renovated and designed for comfort, offering modern break rooms with comfortable seating, shuffleboard, darts, foosball, coffee, snacks, and canteen vending. You can enjoy casual attire while you work, listen to headphones, and benefit from a thorough new training program with structured materials and real-time feedback. The organization is growing, with build plans extending well into the future, creating strong opportunities for long-term career growth, skill development, and stability in a collaborative and fun atmosphere.
Work Environment
The work takes place in a very clean, comfortable, and well-lit facility that produces medical instruments in a regulated, but not clean-room, environment. The area is temperature controlled, and the only required PPE is an ESD smock. You may wear headphones while working, but phone usage is tightly controlled to maintain focus and safety. The dress code allows jeans and a collared shirt, contributing to a relaxed and approachable atmosphere. The current schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of occasional overtime, which may include up to two Saturdays per month or extended hours on Fridays if the schedule shifts to a Monday–Thursday model. The workspace uses a mix of manual stations and small machines for cable processing, and you work closely with a team in a collaborative cable cell environment.
