Machine Builder – Custom Automated Packaging & Manufacturing Equipment
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Builder to join our team in designing, assembling, and commissioning custom automated equipment for the packaging, bottling, filling, and manufacturing industries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building complex machinery from the ground up, solving mechanical challenges, and working closely with engineering teams to bring innovative automation solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Assembly & Build
- Assemble custom automated machinery, including packaging, bottling, filling, labeling, and material‑handling systems.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and assembly prints with precision.
- Fit, align, and adjust mechanical components such as conveyors, frames, guarding, actuators, and tooling.
- Install and route pneumatic and hydraulic lines, sensors, wiring, and other machine subsystems.
Testing, Debugging & Commissioning
- Perform initial machine testing, troubleshooting, and mechanical debugging to ensure proper function.
- Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate motion systems, PLCs, HMIs, and robotics.
- Assist with machine runoff, FAT/SAT processes, and customer acceptance testing.
- Travel to customer sites for installation, startup, and service support as needed.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to resolve design issues and improve build quality.
- Provide feedback on manufacturability, assembly processes, and design improvements.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and schematic interpretation.
- Experience in machine building and electrical wiring.
- Strong skills in mechanical assembly.
- Ability to work with automation, electrical, and mechatronics systems.
- Proficient in panel wiring and control panel building.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in panel building.
- 2+ years of experience in reading schematics.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
