Chemistry Lab Technician
Job Description
This technician-level role in the chemistry labs involves performing routine tests on dairy and food-related products, maintaining laboratory documentation, and ensuring lab efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine tests on dairy and food-related products, including acid hydrolysis for fat content testing, protein, fat, and solids extractions, distillations, and testing.
- Conduct chloride analysis for salt and Babcock extraction for percentage fat.
- Prepare samples for protein, ash, and solids; conduct Kjeldahl assays for sugar, fat, protein, solids, and moisture.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and sample registration in Excel and a LIMS system.
- Ensure the lab is clean and stocked, order supplies, and sterilize and wash glassware.
- Safely use and store lab equipment and chemicals.
- Participate in team meetings and communicate around deadlines and testing completion.
- Adhere to GMP, GLP, USDA, and quality standards.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in chemistry and wet chemistry techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in analytical chemistry, titration, and HPLC.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
