Job Title: Field EngineerJob Description

As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in new construction projects including K-12 schools, clinics, data centers, and pharmaceutical buildings. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct basic point-to-point checks on building automation systems, covering chiller plant controls, HVAC systems, energy monitoring, lighting, indoor air quality, humidity, temperature, and elevator performance. You will use an iPad to ensure systems are functioning correctly, running diagnostics, and commissioning support. This position does not involve front-end engineering or design; instead, it focuses on site startups for the Direct Digital Control (DDC) side of equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems that utilize advanced Direct Digital Control technology.
  • Serve as the local contact for technical issues and lead field operations.
  • Offer effective solutions for increasingly complex system issues.
  • Provide turnkey project delivery on small to medium projects.
  • Ensure systems operate properly, including controls, sensors, and software.
  • Load software and configure trends, alarms, and reports.
  • Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate and document the status and details of the project for the customer.
  • Provide site-specific training to owners/operators on the complete system.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in HVAC systems and building automation.
  • Experience in electrical controls systems and mechanical systems.
  • Project management and engineering skills.
  • Field technician experience with new construction projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Understanding of HVAC systems.
  • Experience in the field is preferred, but a good attitude and drive are valued.
  • Desire to solve complex problems and assist in the training of less experienced Field Engineers.
Work Environment

The Field Engineer will work primarily on-site at new construction projects, mainly hospitals, data centers, and pharmaceutical buildings. Collaboration with internal engineers, mechanical and electrical contractors, and client representatives is expected. The role is based in the Twin Cities area, with travel to other markets within Minnesota. The position offers exposure to numerous contractors, providing excellent networking opportunities. The role includes PTO, holiday pay, and overtime compensation. A company laptop and vehicle are provided. The work environment fosters growth through a mix of field and classroom training, with significant investment in technology and state-of-the-art training.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $41.00/hr.
