R&D Formulation Technician

Job Description

Join our dynamic team in formulating new pharmaceutical products for the animal health market. Collaborate closely with Formulation Scientists and Technicians to innovate and evaluate formulations. Your role will involve weighing samples, preparing laboratory-scale batches, and assessing the initial stability of formulations. You will ensure meticulous documentation and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) where necessary. Engage in the review and development of site procedures to align with current practices. Additionally, you will participate in planning and producing R&D batches, as well as managing packaging and shipping of samples for analysis.

PAY - $24-$28/hour

Responsibilities

  • Weigh and prepare samples and ingredients for laboratory-scale batches.
  • Evaluate critical physical parameters of formulations, including hardness, friability, texture, and dimensional testing.
  • Report and document results following Good Documentation Practices (cGDP).
  • Maintain a clean and organized formulation area, ensuring equipment sanitation.
  • Manage equipment logs, adhere to calibration and maintenance schedules, and oversee inventory of R&D materials.
  • Support general lab maintenance, data collection, and record-keeping.
  • Participate in the planning and production of R&D batches using commercial-scale equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Formulation expertise and familiarity with GMP standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Proficiency in using the Google Workspace platform.
  • process optimization and industrial equipment.
  • Foundation in physical chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of GMP Manufacturing or Packaging experience required.
  • Oral Solid Dose/Tablet experience preferred.
  • Experience in an R&D environment or pilot plant is advantageous.
  • Basic computer knowledge to navigate various systems and interfaces.

Work Environment

Work in the R&D building, collaborating with a team of 4 technicians and 4 scientists. This industrial environment includes several rooms equipped for research scale-up activities, some adhering to GMP standards. Enjoy a spacious setting with a mix of industrial and typical lab environments. The standard shift is Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some flexibility. The R&D group fosters a laid-back yet results-oriented culture, emphasizing collaboration and compliance, especially for batches used in clinical trials.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BRIDGETON, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
