Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments. These projects span various sectors, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The role involves guiding the project team through design and construction processes, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design project teams for new projects and redevelopments.
- Develop protective relay settings in the Transmission and Distribution industry.
- Utilize system modeling software programs such as ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, and SKM.
- Apply protection schemes and philosophies at Transmission and Distribution substations.
- Develop native relay setting files using SEL's AcSELerator and GE's Enervista software programs.
- Read and interpret electrical single lines, three lines, schematics, and functional diagrams.
- Perform calculations including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance, and relay loadability.
- Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning activities for substations.
- Execute complex assignments using advanced electrical engineering techniques.
- Coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports, or design assignments.
- Perform power system studies and system protection settings coordination.
- Develop design basis documentation for protective settings and generate relay configuration files.
- Conduct design reviews and support quality control.
- Assist in the development of project scope of work and conceptual design.
- Train, guide, and mentor less experienced team members.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives.
- Experience in developing protective relay settings in Transmission or Distribution industry.
- Knowledge of protection schemes and philosophies for substations.
- Proficiency in system modeling software (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
- Experience in designing calculations for electrical systems.
- Capability to perform Grounding, Arc Flash, and other Power system studies.
- Execution of complex assignments resulting in new or improved processes or technologies.
- Coordination of project studies and design assignments.
- Experience with power system studies at up to 500-kV voltage level.
- Development of design basis documentation and relay configuration files.
- Support for construction and commissioning activities.
The position is based in a professional engineering office.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesterfield, Missouri.
Compensation:$60
