Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Process Engineer at our Festus, Missouri Plant, located near St. Louis. We are seeking an experienced professional to contribute to process flow studies, coordinate improvement projects, and support plant personnel in enhancing production systems. Your efforts will play a crucial role in sustainably producing high-quality cement products that form the backbone of essential infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Schedule, supervise, and participate in process flow studies for all production systems.
- Plan, design, coordinate, and schedule process-flow improvement projects.
- Train and support plant personnel in process flow activities.
- Collaborate with Night Plant Supervisors, Maintenance Planner, and Automation Engineer to address process flow concerns and minimize down times.
- Develop and implement regular system flow analysis programs.
- Prepare process flow materials and services contracts.
- Analyze equipment shutdowns and recommend operational and control changes, ensuring follow-up on implementation.
- Ensure adherence to plant rules concerning conduct, health and safety, and environmental issues.
- Administer appropriate disciplinary actions for violations.
- Be on-call for routine and emergency plant needs and fill in for Production Manager as necessary.
- Conduct or attend weekly safety meetings, inspect the department daily for unsafe conditions, and aid in reducing on-the-job injuries.
- Supervise contractors on production department projects and maintain records of costs on all process control project work.
- Ensure work orders required by operations and safety inspections are provided to the Maintenance planner.
Essential Skills
- Process improvement and process engineering expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, with a preference for Chemical Engineering.
- Two to four years of experience in operations.
- Solid computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus.
- Familiarity with operational aspects of the Cement Industry.
- Working knowledge of Environmental, Safety and Health, and company policies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Cement experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to develop long-term solutions for repair and maintenance problems.
- Physical dexterity and strength to lift heavy objects and move through close areas.
- An inquisitive nature, eager to learn and improve processes.
Work Environment
The work environment is in the plant, which is dusty, noisy, and potentially hazardous. The role requires physical dexterity and strength to navigate close areas and lift heavy objects. Safety is a priority, with regular inspections and adherence to health and safety protocols.
