Job Title: Animal Care Technician

Responsibilities
- Maintain kennels and facility areas to ensure they are organized, sanitized, and free of odors.
- Feed cats and dogs on schedule and ensure they have access to clean water.
- Use provided pet toys to play and socialize with animals.
- Bathe and groom animals as needed.
- Prepare pet food for scheduled feedings, weigh leftover food, and dispose of it accordingly.
- Maintain documentation on dogs and cats, updating this information as required.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative environment while providing exceptional animal care.
Essential Skills
- Experience in animal research, animal handling, or animal science.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Capability to stand and walk on various surfaces for extended periods.
- Proficiency in bending, stooping, and kneeling for cleaning and animal interaction tasks.
- Skill in handling and restraining animals of varying sizes and temperaments safely.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- 2 years of demonstrated work experience in a physical or fast-paced environment (e.g., restaurant, production, cleaning, retail).
- 6 months or more of animal care experience required, with 1 year preferred. This could be in a professional or volunteer setting, personal business, or farm experience.
- Experience around large groups of animals is preferred.
Work Environment
This role supports the Palatability Assessment Resource Center (PARC) in administering taste trials with animals. The facility is advanced, with high expectations for constant productivity. The team-oriented environment includes interaction with dogs and cats alongside 19+ care technicians and 4-5 vet tech staff. Work involves exposure to varying weather conditions and requires a two-week rotation schedule, including weekends and holidays.
