As a key member of the product development team, the Product Design Engineer plays an integral role in evaluating all past, current, and future products continuously. The position involves collaborating with various departments to assist in market research, drive product development, support manufacturing, and enhance sales and marketing efforts. This dynamic role requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking.
Responsibilities- Assist Sales and Marketing departments with market research studies to guide strategic direction and tactical actions related to new products and competitive product analysis.
- Manage multiple projects from concept to launch by coordinating efforts across various departments, maintaining organization and information.
- Write product specifications and design new products using SolidWorks.
- Ensure products comply with applicable plumbing codes and verify drawings for accuracy in dimensions, tolerances, and notes.
- Coordinate designs with manufacturing and vendors to establish agreement on dimensions and assembly methods.
- Transfer critical design knowledge to Manufacturing personnel and participate in pilot runs and employee training.
- Assist in writing Manufacturing work instructions and validate that processes and equipment meet design intent.
- Inspect new components for conformance to specifications.
- Attend plumbing engineering trade shows and events, providing technical support to Sales during visits.
- Assist Customer Service with customer inquiries and collaborate with Marketing on Product Specification Literature and customer Installation, Operation & Maintenance Instructions.
- Solve design-related problems and implement necessary changes using SolidWorks to improve quality and production efficiency.
- Proven experience in product design and development field, with 10+ years of experience.
- BS in Engineering, Mechanical preferred.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including drawings and tolerancing.
- Knowledge of the product design and development process.
- Understanding of fluid dynamics.
- Excellent project management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Familiarity with various materials such as brass, copper, aluminum, rubber, stainless steel, plastic, terrazzo, and sheet molding compounds.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes like sand cast, die cast, injection molding, metal fabrication, machining, and compression molding.
- Natural curiosity, positive attitude, and creativity.
- Team player with collaborative skills.
- Flexibility in managing changing priorities and multiple projects.
- Knowledge of residential and/or commercial plumbing practices is a plus.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
