Instrument Calibration Technician

Job Description

As an Instrument Calibration Technician, you will provide maintenance on various laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Your role includes installing, calibrating, and qualifying routine and remedial maintenance tasks. You will perform and document your work according to standard operating procedures and established maintenance schedules to meet regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will collaborate with lab staff to schedule maintenance and provide training on equipment when necessary.


Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled routine maintenance on active instrumentation and equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled calibrations and qualifications on active instrumentation and equipment, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
  • Carry out remedial maintenance on active instrumentation and equipment.
  • Oversee the installation of new laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Follow vendor documentation related to preventive maintenance, calibration/qualification, and repairs.
  • Address audits, both internal and external, concerning laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Evaluate lab support records for compliance with SOPs, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and report findings.

  • Instrument calibrations (e.g., scales, balances, flow meters, temperature and pressure meters, temperature probes, fluke meters)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment
  • Cleanroom experience (ISO 7/8 preferred)
  • Technical certification may be required
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Understanding of FDA and GXP regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Basic troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication with vendors, clients, and staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
