Lead HVAC/Boiler Technician – Facilities Operations
Expert-Level | Full-Time
We’re looking for an experienced, self-directed Lead HVAC/Boiler Technician to support our Facilities Operations team. In this role, you’ll serve as a technical leader, oversee daily work assignments, and ensure the safe, reliable operation of critical mechanical systems across our facility.
If you’re skilled in commercial HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, electrical/plumbing repair — and enjoy guiding others while still working hands‑on — this is your next step.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Support
- Coordinate daily work schedules, assignments, and staffing coverage.
- Manage schedule changes, time-off requests, and emergent staffing needs.
- Provide onsite technical guidance for escalated or complex issues.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and ensuring ongoing staff competency.
- Recommend improvements to processes, workflows, and training programs.
- Identify policy or attendance concerns and communicate appropriately.
HVAC, Boiler, & Mechanical Operations
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, refrigeration units, ice machines, boilers, and related controls.
- Adjust and maintain HVAC systems to meet design specifications and efficiency standards.
- Inspect, test, and document all mechanical systems, reporting unsafe or abnormal conditions immediately.
- Operate mechanical equipment including emergency generators, cooling towers, and boiler room systems.
- Complete preventive and corrective maintenance according to manufacturer requirements.
Facilities Support
- Maintain accurate records in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Keep work areas clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with clinical and support staff to minimize operational impact.
- Support compliance with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with electrical and plumbing repairs as needed.
- Provide HVAC-related instruction to other maintenance personnel.
Other
- Remain alert and work safely at all times.
- Perform additional duties as required.
What You Bring
- 2+ years of HVAC or facilities maintenance experience (commercial experience strongly preferred).
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across HVAC, boiler, and refrigeration systems.
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repair.
- EPA Universal Certification (preferred).
- Experience with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programs.
- Solid communication skills and a commitment to teamwork and safety.
