Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for accurately pricing and bidding self-performed electrical work, with a focus on low voltage systems, including fire alarm, internet/data cabling, HVAC controls, and technology/internet infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industry standards and experience with systems from Johnson Controls, Siemens, or Trane.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for low voltage and technology-related electrical work.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure estimates align with project goals and execution plans.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials and services.
  • Develop and maintain a database of unit costs and historical data for future reference.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in low voltage and technology systems.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm, data/telecom, HVAC controls, and integrated building systems.
  • Familiarity with Johnson Controls, Siemens, or Trane systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • NICET certification or equivalent in fire alarm systems is a plus.
  • Experience working with design-build and design-assist project delivery methods.
