Job Title: CNC Operator

Job Description

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines and machining centers to cut, shape, drill, mill, ream, bore, broach, or form metal workpieces according to specifications. This role requires reading and interpreting blueprints, selecting and installing tooling, monitoring operations, performing manual adjustments, changing tools, and measuring completed parts to ensure they meet specifications. The operator also troubleshoots issues, performs basic maintenance, and may machine materials such as composites and plastics.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand specifications.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling for CNC machines.
  • Monitor machine operations and make manual adjustments as needed.
  • Change tools and measure completed parts to ensure conformance.
  • Troubleshoot issues during machining processes.
  • Perform basic maintenance on CNC machines.
  • Operate machines to cut, shape, drill, mill, ream, bore, broach, or form metal workpieces.
  • Machine materials such as composites and plastics when required.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in operating lathe and mill CNC machines.
  • Experience with machining and use of calipers for inspection.
  • Strong mathematical skills including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, safety rules, and manuals.
  • Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to make adjustments during machining.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, reach, lift up to 25 lbs, and use various hand-related motions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical school training preferred.
  • 6 months to 1 year of related experience acceptable.
  • Ability to write basic reports and communicate effectively.
  • Experience operating a forklift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
