Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Building Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and troubleshooting a variety of HVAC systems, repairing and maintaining fan coil units, building loops, pumps, heat exchangers, and forced air components such as VAV, circuit setters, and controls. The role involves identifying maintenance tasks or risks, coordinating with HVAC service contractors for repairs and installations, and documenting maintenance activities using CMMS. Additionally, the candidate will perform basic electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and miscellaneous maintenance activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, diagnose, and troubleshoot a variety of HVAC systems.
- Repair and maintain fan coil units, building loops, pumps, heat exchangers, and forced air components (VAV, circuit setters, controls).
- Identify maintenance tasks or risks.
- Coordinate with HVAC service contractors for repairs and installations.
- Document maintenance activities using CMMS.
- Perform basic electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and miscellaneous maintenance activities when needed.
- Experience in commercial or large facility HVAC maintenance.
- Proficiency in HVAC, facility troubleshooting, facilities maintenance, carpentry, mechanical, preventive maintenance, and repair.
- Experience in building maintenance including boiler, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, lighting, and using hand tools.
- High level of professionalism and customer service.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- EPA (Type 1, Type 2, Universal) certification preferred.
- Formal training in HVAC maintenance preferred.
- Prior facility maintenance experience in a school, hospital, or corporate campus strongly preferred.
- Willingness to perform maintenance tasks not directly related to HVAC.

Work Environment
Work in a vibrant college campus environment. Standard hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with the requirement to respond to emergencies or work up to 16 hours for special projects.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
