Description
Our client is doing an M365 implementation and needs to bring on a contract PM to help drive things from their side. Prior to the M365 implementation there is preliminary work that is needed around IAM. So, this role will initially focus on IAM activities and work in conjunction with O'Reilly Auto Parts to identify what needs to be done and help guard / direct on any issues or pitfalls they may see based on what they have done on past projects or companies. It will start out as a Project Manager focused role and then possibly moving to a more Program Management role as the look to kick off the M365 project. They need to be technical so they can understand what truly needs to be done and provide any "push back" that is needed. They will also work with some 3rd parties.
• Someone who has done 365 implementation previously
o Needs to be current; within the last 1 – 3 years
o Proven experience managing large (2500+ employees , multi-workstream implementations – does not have to be in retail
• Understanding and experience with Identity & access management within M365 ecosystem
• Ability to manage interdependent teams
• Experience with vendors (system integrators)
• Must have a core knowledge in M365 dependencies
• Has to be strong at identifying upstream/downstream impacts
• Experienced at enterprise-scale change
• Comfortable in ambiguity
• Needs to be On-site when needed – in beginning ~100%
• Drive results/deliverables
PMO Structure: IT PMO, which includes infrastructure and information security portfolios. The requested project manager would report directly to this manager.
Project Focus: The role is focused on Identity and Access Management (IAM) work. This effort is considered preliminary work in support of a potential future M365 implementation.
PM Experience Level: The ideal candidate must have more than basic project management skills and be able to drive the current IAM project independently. There is also an expectation that this individual could potentially transition into a program manager role for M365, requiring sufficient M365 and IAM knowledge to identify risks and challenge assumptions or plans when needed.
On‑site Requirements: The project manager is expected to be on‑site Monday through Thursday, particularly during the discovery and planning phases. There may be increased flexibility for remote work during the execution phase.
Travel and Location: The client will cover travel costs, allowing the talent search to extend beyond Springfield to locations such as Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Dallas, or Atlanta. Travel expenses will be billable.
Project Planning Role: The project manager will be responsible for defining a detailed breakdown of tasks for the preliminary IAM work, as O’Reilly does not currently have a pre‑defined plan in place.
Budget and Timeline: The client is aiming to onboard the project manager within two weeks of identification. The project is expected to run through December 31, 2026, with the potential for extension.
Interview Process: 3 step interview process
Cultural Fit: They place a strong emphasis on hiring a project manager who can drive results and deliverables while building effective relationships and aligning with the company’s culture. Practical outcomes are valued more than strict adherence to formal methodologies.
