Job Title: Engineering Estimator
Job Description
As an Engineering Estimator, you will play a crucial role in developing effective quoting tools to standardize processes and support entry-level estimators. Your responsibilities will include interpreting customer requests, reviewing engineering documentation, and collaborating with internal teams to develop cost estimates and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop effective quoting tools to standardize processes.
- Support the development of entry-level estimators.
- Clarify and interpret customer requests for quotes and set up proposals to meet requirements.
- Review customer prints, parts lists, CAD models, and other engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create manufacturing processes and cost estimates.
- Obtain supplier quotes for materials, hardware, processing, subcontracting, and shipping.
- Prepare quotes for each Tank Division customer request.
- Maintain an organized system for working on multiple quotes simultaneously.
- Review and analyze historical costs of produced parts for basis of estimates.
- Contact existing customers to enhance relationships, seek additional opportunities, and gather market information.
- Coordinate with management by submitting metrics and KPIs.
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending continuous training, educational sessions, and participating in professional organizations.
- Contribute to long-term strategy by accomplishing related duties as needed.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in estimation and data entry.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent typing and order entry abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating or quoting, or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of metal manufacturing, industrial, or assembly processes is preferred.
- Experience working with engineering and technical buyers.
- A driven individual who is personable and a team player.
