Pay: $38-$45/hr PLUS $140 per diem.

Job Title: Fitter/Fabricator

Job Description

As a Fitter/Fabricator, you will be responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations. Your role will include performing fitting and machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking materials to close tolerances. You will select equipment and set up materials based on general instructions, and may repair or rework parts to restore required tolerances distorted by welding operations. You will also monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit, align, and assemble prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations.
  • Perform fitting and machining operations including straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking materials to close tolerances.
  • Select equipment and set up materials based on general instructions.
  • Repair or rework parts to restore required tolerances after welding operations.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and taking measurements.
  • Experience with drilling, tapping, brazing, and grinding.
  • Ability to lay out, fit, align, and assemble prefabricated components.
  • Experience in shipyard and fabrication settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in shop environments.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control procedures.

Work Environment

This role operates in a shop environment at the newly acquired facility in Charleston/Goose Creek. Multiple shifts are available, including 20 positions for the first shift and 6 positions for the second shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Pascagoula, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.08 - $44.18/hr.
