Job Title: Test Technician

Job Description

Join our team as a Test Technician for the 2nd shift. You will perform essential engineering laboratory services and support for large water-cooled chillers. This role involves setting up and tearing down equipment, connecting and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems, and ensuring quality control through thorough testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform setup and teardown activities for large water-cooled chillers.
• Connect and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems on manufactured equipment.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain test setups to detect malfunctions.
• Collaborate with engineers to understand the implications of test procedures and results.
• Support engineering testing of chillers under moderate supervision.
• Execute tests for research and development as well as for certification purposes.
• Ensure each unit is tested before leaving the facility.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience with hand/pneumatic tools.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting background.
• Ability to move/lift weights up to 35 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with HVAC or other large commercial equipment.
• Commercial HVAC industrial or operation experience preferred.
• Experience with instrumentation setup, troubleshooting, and calibration.
• Proficiency in setting up laboratory equipment with pressure, temperature, and electrical measurements.
• Strong PC skills.
• Familiarity with forklift and overhead crane operation preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Associates Degree, Trade Technical/Business School Certificate, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship strongly preferred.
• Refrigerant certification preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment includes very large systems that fit on the back of a tractor-trailer. The facility contains five test labs and is the headquarters for commercial chillers, with research and development and manufacturing onsite. The position is for the 2nd shift, Monday to Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with occasional overtime required twice per month. The work involves standing, bending, and lifting (less than 50 lbs) for extended periods.
