Job Description

Responsibilities
- Develop, debug, test, and document firmware for products.
- Collaborate with Hardware Engineers to assist with component selection and define firmware needs for new product development.
- Coordinate with the Web Development Team to ensure compatibility with firmware.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and tasks.
- Develop and maintain a schedule to track progress in completing objectives within a deadline.
- Design and develop electrical systems and components for various applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Conduct testing and validation of electrical systems to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Transition designs to production, including interfacing with vendors, BOMs, and documentation.
- Develop and maintain firmware for various lighting and control products.
- Document designs, processes, and test results for future reference.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of experience in C programming for embedded applications.
- Familiarity with communications protocols including CAN BUS, I2C, SPI, TCP/IP, USB.
- Experience with software development processes such as version control, unit testing, bug tracking, and static analysis.
- Experience with boot loaders, interrupts, and memory management.
- Proficiency with firmware development tools, debuggers, and testing equipment, including oscilloscopes and communication analyzers.
- Understanding of electronics, embedded systems, and schematics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2+ years in an EE design role.
- Component selection, schematic design/capture, and PCB layout experience; Altium preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Software programming languages including C++, SQL, PHP, Python.
- Linux for embedded applications.
- GUI development.
- Automotive electrical and firmware experience.
- Familiarity with automotive product design and power electronics.
- C++ programming for embedded Linux applications.
- Provide mechanical knowledge support in the integration of electrical components into larger systems.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position located in Charlotte, NC. The work schedule is an 8-hour day shift, Monday to Friday.
