Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Control Panel Design


Job Description

We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on designing control panels for industrial electromechanical systems. This role involves creating design concepts, managing data change and version controls, and coordinating design activities with both local and offshore teams.


Responsibilities

  • Design and layout control panels for various NEMA and IP ratings, including NEMA 1, NEMA 3R, NEMA 4, and IP54.
  • Create or modify design concepts using Creo/Pro-E for commercial chiller products.
  • Develop electrical schematic drawings and wiring harnesses.
  • Manage bill of materials (BOMs) and ensure proper documentation in eCAD, Creo, and Windchill.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and designers to develop multiple design concepts.
  • Check and mark up drawings to assist in CAD and BOM creation.
  • Understand industrial electromechanical controls/panels and the use of breakers/contactors for motor control.
  • Work with sensors such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
  • Perform sizing and design of copper bus bars and power components like inductors, capacitors, inverters, and rectifiers.
  • Correlate NEC ampacity tables with appropriate wire gauge and terminal selection.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and three-phase motor systems.
  • Proficiency in creating and reading wiring schematics.
  • Strong design skills and knowledge of engineering documentation systems.
  • Ability to work within a fast-moving engineering design team.
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y.14 standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Experience with electromechanical control systems and components.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with large assemblies and bill of material structure.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Exposure to manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods.

Work Environment

This position is part of a dedicated engineering group that supports custom, large, medium, and small projects. The role includes access to 5 test labs onsite, providing a great opportunity for research and development, testing, and learning. The team is composed of experienced engineers, offering a supportive environment for professional growth. The facility supports full R&D and manufacturing for commercial water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.
