Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Supports systems integration, technical design, model based design, systems analysis for supportability and effectiveness of technological systems, systems analysis for safety of system, systems research, systems verification or validation planning, architecture development, and requirements for commercial, industrial and governmental purposes. Integrates system activities to support the aforementioned tasks. Integration and analysis applies to the greater systems, interfaces between the systems and subsystems, and systems and components.

In this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer leverages expertise in thermal systems to design, analyze, and optimize chiller systems for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. The role includes leading the integration of mechanical system designs into chiller and split system new product development programs. The Engineer will be responsible for developing solutions that best meet the local/global market needs by integrating multiple technologies in the product.


Responsibilities

  • Thermodynamic based modeling and optimization of chiller system design, fluid filtration, and pumping.
  • Work cross-functionally with service and operations teams to effectively launch designs into production.
  • Develop chiller system architecture that meets or exceeds product development requirements.
  • Confirm product design performance, capability, and reliability in the engineering product test laboratories.
  • Collaborate with product marketing teams locally to develop product requirements and ensure that the product meets their needs when launched.
  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
  • Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems, or work orders / purchase requests.
  • Conduct thermal analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions and environments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product management, engineering, and manufacturing, to define project requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Support design and development of chiller systems, including component selection, system integration, and performance optimization.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Support product testing and validation activities, analyze test results and implement design improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in thermal systems engineering.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of mechanical engineering design experience or a Master’s degree with 3-6 years of mechanical engineering design.
  • Experience in thermal analysis, chiller systems, HVAC, heat exchange, and pressure vessel design (ASME).
  • Project leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills, primarily in English.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a new product development, service, and/or aftermarket space.
  • Experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Some experience with quoting and costing.
  • Experience with Engineering to Order systems with 3000+ parts/BOMs/sub-assemblies.
