• Job Summary:
o Carrier is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Mechanic to support the daily operations of our engineering labs. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of mechanical, HVAC, and test equipment used in research and development testing. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a technical lab or manufacturing environment, and a commitment to safety and quality.
o Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on lab infrastructure and HVAC test equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on compressors, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, and related components.
Support installation and commissioning of new test rigs and lab systems, including mechanical hookups, alignments, and calibrations.
Maintain accurate service logs and preventive maintenance records.
Conduct inspections and safety checks of lab utilities, including chilled water, compressed air, refrigerant systems, and electrical interfaces.
Follow and enforce safety protocols and lab operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab maintenance workspace and inventory.
o Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or HVAC systems in a lab, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and test instruments.
Understanding of safety procedures
Key Responsibilities:
This position is for an Engineering Laboratory Services and Support Technician who is under general supervision. Performs basic to moderately complex set-up and tear down activities of large water cooled chillers.
Role Purpose:
• Connect and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems on Charlotte manufactured equipment.
• Operates, inspects and maintains test setups and equipment to detect malfunctions
• Familiarity with electrical work, and medium voltage industrial power supplies.
• Familiarity with HVAC operation, refrigerant handling, and EPA certification is a plus
• Experience with pumps, VFDs, boilers, is a plus
• Works under moderate supervision to support engineering testing of chillers.
• Familiarity with industrial tools
Familiarity with electrical work, including 460-3-60 machinery
Familiarity with HVAC operation, refrigerant handling, and EPA certification is a plus
Experience with pumps, VFDs, boilers, control valves, and PLC operation is a plus
LO/TO controls troubleshooting and Arc Flash training is helpful
Works under moderate supervision to provide technical support to engineers on a variety of engineering tasks
Performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects
Operates, inspects and maintains test setups and equipment to detect malfunctions
Collaborates with higher-level support staff to confer with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results
