Job Title: Civil/Structural Engineer


Job Description

In this role, you will assist property owners in solving problems and understanding building and site improvements through forensic site inspections, technical reports, and repair/construction design. You will conduct on-site field investigations and structural assessments of existing homes, buildings, or structures.


Responsibilities

  • Perform forensic structural engineering evaluations and produce detailed reports.
  • Engage in residential and commercial structural design projects.
  • Participate in construction administration tasks.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally both in writing and verbally with clients, including homeowners, property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Travel to various inspection sites, including both residential and commercial locations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program, preferably with a structural engineering focus.
  • Minimum of five years of structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Proven skills in technical writing and report writing.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with clients daily.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, basements, and roofs, including the physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and balance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in civil engineering, structural analysis, land development, erosion control, water resources, stormwater design, and structural forensics.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Work Environment

The position involves 50% on-site work conducting inspections and evaluations, and 50% office-based work focused on report writing.
