Job Description
This 2nd shift Packer role focuses on assembling crates and stacking pallets used to hold energy-related products in a busy distribution center. You support the crating department by building and packaging materials, handling excess materials, and safely operating material-handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes. You help ensure that products are packaged accurately, securely, and on time while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Responsibilities
- Assemble crates and stack pallets to securely hold products for shipment.
- Handle and organize excess materials and distribute tools or products back to the appropriate areas when needed.
- Operate a forklift and overhead crane safely after receiving the required equipment certification.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring tapes to build crates and package materials according to specifications.
- Confirm inventory counts and ensure accuracy of materials and products handled.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform routine and minor maintenance on equipment used in the crating and packing process.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment in all areas utilized by the department.
- Assist with crate building and material packaging as required to meet production needs.
- Perform related duties and support additional tasks as assigned by the Crating leadership team.
- Ability to safely operate at least one type of lift prior to starting, with willingness to obtain certification on forklift and crane.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools in a mechanical, warehouse, or production environment.
- Ability to read and use measuring tools such as measuring tapes accurately.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory counts and proper packaging.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine and minor equipment maintenance.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and leadership.
- Ability to work in a production and crating environment focused on crate building and material packaging.
- Capability to stand for the duration of the shift in a physically active role.
- Background in mechanical, warehouse, or production work is beneficial.
- Experience with crate building, crating, or export packaging is an advantage.
- Problem-solving skills to address minor issues with equipment, materials, or packaging.
- Comfort working with inventory processes and completing basic documentation.
- Willingness to learn and follow established procedures and safety guidelines.

Work Environment
This role is based in a non-climate-controlled distribution center supporting energy-sector operations. You work primarily on the receiving dock and production floor, where temperatures can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer. The position is on 2nd shift, and you are expected to stand for the duration of the shift and perform physically active tasks such as lifting, moving materials, and operating equipment. You regularly use forklifts, cranes, hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools in a busy, industrial setting that requires adherence to safety procedures and maintaining a clean, orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
