Job Title: Injection Mold Technician (Set Up Technician)

Job Description

As an Injection Mold Technician, you will be responsible for installing molds and ancillary equipment as per work orders and performing mold changes using cranes and hoists. You will set and document molding parameters to ensure repeatable results with optimized cycle times and minimal scrap. Quick response to machine alarms and diagnosing process issues to maintain quality standards is crucial. Additionally, you will perform preventive maintenance on machines and molds, comply with safety rules, handle raw materials safely, assist with color changes, and maintain setup sheets and process logs to ensure seamless communication between shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Install molds and ancillary equipment according to work orders.
  • Perform mold changes and insert adjustments using cranes and hoists.
  • Set and document molding parameters for repeatable results, optimized cycle times, and minimal scrap.
  • Respond promptly to machine alarms and diagnose process issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and molds.
  • Comply with OSHA and company safety rules.
  • Handle raw materials and molded products safely.
  • Assist with color changes and inventory control.
  • Maintain setup sheets and process logs for clear communication between shifts.
  • Inspect manufactured products both visually and dimensionally per the quality plan.
  • Monitor equipment and processes to detect quality and efficiency issues.
  • Diagnose problems and replace or repair parts to ensure maximum efficiencies.
  • Communicate mold conditions to the mold shop.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with plastic injection molding.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in mold change and changeover processes.
  • Knowledge of quality control inspection.
  • Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Experience with material handling and measuring tools.
  • Proficient in equipment operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Comply with company and statutory safety rules.
  • Responsible for housekeeping of designated working area/machines.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and your role in it.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Claremont, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
