HIRING IMMEDIATELY FOR PURSUIT DESIGN ENGINEER IN GREENSBORO, NC!
SALARY: $85K-115K

COMBINED EXPERIENCE IN GEOTECHNICAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING, ENGINEERING, OR PROJECT DEVELOPMENT.*

Key Responsibilities:
Sales, Business Development & Client Engagement
- Lead outreach to engineers, contractors, developers, and owners to generate new opportunities.
- Conduct cold calls, client visits, and structured follow-ups to expand UMA’s market presence.
- Develop strong relationships with public and private procurement agencies, consultants, and general contractors.
- Use CRM software (mainly Salesforce) to track leads, opportunities, client interactions, win/loss metrics, and sales analytics.
Pursuit Leadership & Estimating
- Direct and oversee estimating for deep foundation and geotechnical construction projects.
- Review, interpret, and analyze construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
- Produce accurate and detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Lead strategy development for bids, proposals, and design-build opportunities.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and Sr. leadership to evaluate project feasibility and pricing.
Management & Team Oversight
- Manage a team of at least two estimators and/or sales personnel, including workload delegation, training, and performance development.
- Provide technical and strategic guidance to support quality estimates and strong client relationships.
- Oversee pursuit calendars (Monday.com), tracking tools (Salesforce), and internal communication regarding upcoming opportunities.
Collaboration & Internal Engagement
- Work alongside engineering, project management, and field operations to ensure constructability and competitive pricing.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid reviews.
- Support transition of awarded projects to project managers and design teams.
Additional Qualifications:
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 7–15 years of combined experience in geotechnical construction estimating, engineering, or project development.
- Direct experience estimating public and private deep-foundation projects.
- Prior professional experience in outside sales, including cold calling and structured client development.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering plans, perform takeoffs, and develop cost estimates.
- Experience managing or supervising estimators or sales personnel.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce strongly preferred).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to build new relationships and drive revenue growth.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Greensboro, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
