Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for evaluating, approving, and improving suppliers of manufactured components, ensuring that incoming parts meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. The role involves PPAP review, APQP participation, supplier audits, dimensional verification, defect investigation, and leadership in corrective action. This position demands hands-on exposure to precision manufacturing processes, strong GD&T knowledge, and experience working directly with suppliers in an automotive or equivalent manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and approve suppliers of manufactured components.
- Ensure incoming parts meet engineering drawings and quality specifications.
- Conduct PPAP reviews and participate in APQP processes.
- Perform supplier audits and dimensional verification.
- Investigate defects and lead corrective actions.
- Collaborate directly with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
Essential Skills
- Experience with APQP and PPAP execution.
- Expertise in supplier corrective action (SCAR), 8D, and root cause analysis.
- Strong knowledge of drawing interpretation and GD&T.
- Ability to conduct dimensional verification and capability audits.
- Experience in quality engineering for machined components, metal stamping, weldments/fabrication, injection molding, die casting, electrical/electronics, and rubber/polymer.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred experience with IATF or ISO 9001 standards.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensboro, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
