In this role, the Construction Materials Tester / Inspector will engage in field observation, inspection, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement. Daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers is essential. The candidate should possess the ability to perform observations, inspections, and tests on construction projects and document findings in line with accepted engineering practices. Following inspections, the individual is expected to submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify the collected data.
Responsibilities- Perform field observations, inspections, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement.
- Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers.
- Document findings according to accepted engineering practices.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify collected field data.
- 2+ years of recent experience in the field.
- Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial sectors.
- Certifications such as ACI preferred.
- Experience with soils is needed; concrete experience is a plus.
- Clean driving record.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate level computer skills.
- Background in materials testing or special inspection.
- Certifications such as ICC (Structural, Concrete Masonry etc.), NICET, TROXLER, QMS.
The individual will work in the field nearly 100% of the time, focusing on projects within residential subdivision development to confirm soil support for construction, as well as in commercial and industrial sectors.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr.
