We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Shipping and Receiving Worker. You will play a crucial role in handling materials and ensuring smooth operations within our facilities. This role involves operating machinery, handling raw materials, and maintaining an organized and clean workspace. The position requires working 1st shift from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities- Operate big bag unloading stations to transfer carbon black into silos.
- Inspect bags and unloading equipment for damage or defects before use.
- Follow all safety protocols for handling carbon black and operating unloading machinery.
- Ensure accurate documentation of material quantities and batch information.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the unloading area to prevent contamination and hazards.
- Communicate with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material flow.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Weigh and load raw materials into proper containers using electronic scales and computer systems.
- Operate rubber cutter controls to cut large raw materials into manageable sizes.
- Verify all raw materials and compound numbers for accuracy; check for contamination using visual and color perception.
- Review daily orders and create pick sheets for required materials.
- Scan raw material barcodes for verification and prepare unused materials for return to the warehouse.
- Calibrate scales periodically to ensure accurate measurements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation and tools; clean tools and tool boards regularly.
- Follow all facility safety rules and procedures, including PPE requirements and Lock-out/Tag-out protocols.
- Report equipment issues to Maintenance and keep equipment in safe operating condition.
- Assist in training new associates as directed by the Supervisor.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management.
- Experience in production work, machine operation, and general labor.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to weigh, measure, and inspect materials accurately.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems with products.
- Capability to read instructions on production orders and ensure adherence to quality policies.
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for approximately 12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
- Forklift operation experience is beneficial.

Work EnvironmentYou will work directly with a few other team members in an environment that is not climate-controlled, reflecting outside temperatures. It can get very hot in the summer. The work area can be dirty due to the nature of the product, but showers are available onsite for your convenience.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Statesville, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
