Job Description
The Procurement Manager provides direct procurement leadership support to a manufacturing division in North Carolina. This role involves supervising and leading a procurement team, focusing on establishing new model sourcing and costs, managing mass production sourcing and costs, and executing business strategies in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
Responsibilities
- Distribute work among team members efficiently.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Conduct cost analysis and develop sourcing strategies.
- Evaluate supplier competitiveness and escalate issues to management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strong relationships with suppliers.
- Reinforce best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives (PDCA).
- Manage associate performance and development through performance reviews and career planning.
- Contribute to budgeting and cost roll-ups.
- Substitute for the Department Lead when necessary to maintain business continuity.
Essential Skills
- 6-8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Powersports or Automotive industries.
- 5+ years of supervisory or project leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
- Strong confidentiality, ethics, and professional judgment.
- Effective time management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Understanding of product development schedules and manufacturing timelines.
- Knowledge of cost, budget, and financial management practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strategic sourcing and procurement leadership skills.
- Experience with purchase order management and vendor management.
- Analytical and decision-making skills, including cost gap analysis.
- Experience in contract negotiation and catalog administration.
Work Environment
The role is primarily office-based with frequent computer and keyboard use. Occasional exposure to manufacturing and shop environments may occur, along with limited physical activity such as standing, kneeling, and bending. There is potential exposure to hazardous materials typical of manufacturing settings. Travel is required 1–3 times per quarter, including potential international travel, and overtime is expected based on project demands.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Swepsonville, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
