Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team, focusing on plant layout and equipment layout. The role involves performing in-house mechanical design, including life safety systems, HVAC systems, plumbing, piping, gas, and fire sprinkler systems, for capital expansion projects and renovations of existing facilities. The projects primarily utilize Plant3D and AutoCAD, and involve industries such as pet food, chemicals, and food and beverage.


Responsibilities

  • Execute plant layout design and equipment layout using Plant3D and AutoCAD.
  • Perform mechanical design tasks for life safety, HVAC systems, plumbing, piping, gas, and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Design process piping, select equipment, prepare material lists, and review contract documents and drawings for industrial projects.
  • Provide preliminary design documents, including conceptual designs, technical specifications, and site plans for industrial projects.
  • Develop detailed design documents for construction packages.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, contractors, fabricators, and vendors.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing and food and beverage background.
  • Proficiency in Plant3D and AutoCAD 2D.
  • Experience in MEP dust collection conveyor design.
  • Associates degree in design and drafting.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in Food & Beverage, Agricultural, Mineral Processing, and Power Industries is preferred.
  • Experience working with a 3D Scanner and Navisworks.
  • Capability to work directly with clients on site.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate various tasks and deadlines.

Work Environment

Our office is located in the bustling Regency district of Omaha, offering easy access to the Dodge Expressway and interstate. This suite location provides proximity to shopping and popular dining spots. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional on-site visits requiring 3D laser scanning of new customer sites. The work environment is a small firm setting with around 15 employees, fostering a casual dress code, a professional atmosphere, and opportunities for taking on multiple roles. Employees are encouraged to contribute to company decisions and participate in group outings, creating a culture where they are respected and valued.
