Job Title: Survey Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Survey Technician to maintain accountability for the actions and productivity of the field crew and oversee the operation and maintenance of survey equipment. This role involves direct collaboration with the Survey Manager in developing proposals and coordinating with clients on existing projects. The ideal candidate will assist in managing field crew members, ranging from three to eight technicians, while demonstrating proficiency in calculating and uploading data points in GPS monitors and mapping equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accountability for the actions and productivity of the field crew.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment.
- Collaborate with the Survey Manager to develop proposals.
- Coordinate with clients on existing projects.
- Assist in managing field crew members.
- Calculate and upload/download data points in GPS monitors and mapping equipment.
- Read and comprehend construction drawings.
- Calculate construction layouts.
- Work directly with design engineers, clients, safety officers, and the public.
- Plan and execute efficient scanning/survey workflows.
- Comply with all Construction Site OSHA rules.
- Participate in required company training programs.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- 3-5 years experience in a civil engineering/surveying office
- 3-5+ years experience in boundary research and field staking
- Expert knowledge of survey equipment, including GPS and robotic hardware
- Proficiency in survey programs and 3D scanning software
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans
- Field leadership qualities to manage crews and represent the company on job sites
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in land surveying and crew scheduling
- Experience in construction and civil engineering
- Strong boundary research capabilities
