Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at a recycling manufacturing facility. This role is essential for ensuring smooth operations by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting equipment repairs. This is a physically demanding position in a dirty, industrial environment where recyclable materials are sorted. If you have strong technical skills and enjoy hands-on work, this is the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and repairs on machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical problems promptly.
  • Assist with semi-trailer maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities.
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance role.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Skilled in welding, metal fabrication, and reading technical drawings.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Preventive maintenance skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large-scale recycling facility where materials are mechanically sorted and processed. Employees work around heavy machinery, conveyor belts, balers, forklifts, and semi-trailers. The environment involves exposure to dirt, dust, and debris from various materials like paper, plastics, and metals, and protective gear is typically required. The facility operates at a high speed to process large volumes of recyclables, requiring standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and working in noisy conditions. Strict adherence to safety protocols is essential due to the presence of heavy equipment and moving machinery. Shifts include 1st Shift: 5am - 2pm, 2nd Shift: 10am - 7pm, and 3rd Shift (on-call rotation): 7pm - 5am, with on-call shifts offering an extra hour of pay and a $50 bonus. The company emphasizes sustainability and environmental responsibility, which can be rewarding for those passionate about recycling.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
