The Resident Engineer will lead field operations for major transportation and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality expectations. This role is ideal for professionals with strong inspection backgrounds and leadership experience in civil engineering environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise field offices including inspectors, schedulers, and office engineers.
  • Coordinate daily inspection schedules and ensure site safety and technical oversight.
  • Interface with contractors and stakeholders to resolve constructability issues.
  • Oversee documentation, change orders, and schedule impacts.
  • Lead QA/QC efforts and ensure compliance with agency standards (e.g., NJDOT, NJTA, MTA, PANYNJ).
  • Develop and implement Construction Management Plans and progress tracking systems.
  • Represent the client in field meetings and ensure timely reporting and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–4 years as a Resident Engineer or 12+ years in construction inspection.
  • NICET Level IV certification in Transportation/Highway Construction.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (NJ or NY preferred).
  • OSHA 30-hour safety certification and MTA Track Safety training preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
