Job Title: Yard Jockey
In this role, you will manage the movement of trailers to and from loading and unloading doors, ensuring a smooth flow of raw materials and finished goods within the yard. You will operate a jockey truck or terminal tractor to maneuver trailers efficiently and safely. Additionally, you will support loading and unloading operations, ensuring trailers are prepared for transit and inspecting their condition.
Responsibilities
- Manage the movement of trailers to and from loading and unloading doors.
- Operate a jockey truck or terminal tractor to maneuver trailers within the facility yard.
- Safely load or unload trailers and prepare them for transit, including inspecting trailer conditions.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including packing slips and shipping tickets.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the wearing of required PPE such as hair nets, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard area.
Essential Skills
- Valid CDL Class A.
- 5 years of commercial driving or jockey experience.
- Experience with tractor-trailers, forklifts, or similar terminal equipment.
- Capability to work in a high-noise, high-vibration environment, including standing for long periods and operating heavy machinery.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Willingness to work varied shifts or overtime, including nights or weekends.

Work Environment
The position involves working Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with daily overtime of about 2-3 hours. Saturday work is available, with the potential for 12+ overtime hours weekly. This role involves outdoor labor, working between two sites located half a mile from each other.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bayonne, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
