Job Title: Sensory Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Sensory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in sciences, preferably in Food Science, and possess lab experience as well as expertise in sensory testing. This role involves running sensory tests, assisting sessions, and contributing to a variety of sensory and consumer testing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer sensory and consumer tests following the instructions of the Sensory Specialist/Scientist and Sr Technician, adhering to best practices.
  • Manage products under test, including procurement, storage, and disposal.
  • Contribute to checking panel data and building results reports.
  • Schedule, plan, and execute informal tastings, including product preparation, ballot development, and reporting.
  • Participate in informal tastings to provide guidance as needed.
  • Oversee all acuity testing requirements for discrimination panel recruitment, including onboarding, lab orientation, lab set-up, and maintaining records of attendance and performance.
  • Assist in the training and management of sensory panels, screening, training, and monitoring performance of both internal and external panels.
  • Maintain records of external panel attendance and performance, and manage panels' information.
  • Assist in analysis and reporting of sensory results using sensory software for data acquisition and analysis.
  • Summarize and report results as necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences, preferably in Food Science.
  • Experience in sensory testing and laboratory management.
  • Core knowledge of sensory evaluation methodologies, procedures, and processes.
  • Proficiency in safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Computer literacy, including MS-Office and dedicated sensory software.
  • Proficiency in local language and basic level of English (written and oral).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in sensory laboratory management is a plus.
  • Technical training in a scientific or food-related field is an advantage.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of BRIDGEWATER, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
