Job Title: Maintenance MechanicJob Description

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuous production of all products by setting up, repairing, rebuilding, and installing production equipment. This position involves repairing malfunctioning production equipment, including fillers, conveyors, drives, coolers, palletizing, and boxing components. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing new equipment or replacing existing equipment as needed and setting up production lines for product changeovers. As the primary technical leader on the shift, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and reducing downtime due to equipment failure. Additionally, the role involves training operators to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions and assist with preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, repair, rebuild, and install production equipment.
  • Ensure continuous production by repairing malfunctioning equipment.
  • Install new equipment or replace existing equipment as required.
  • Set up lines for product changeovers.
  • Lead planned maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Reduce downtime due to equipment failure.
  • Train operators to recognize and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance.
Essential Skills
  • Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance expertise.
  • Repair and electrical skills, including working with 480v electric and 3-phase motors.
  • Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair liquid packaging machinery.
  • PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and welding.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical drives, pumps, valves, and conveyors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment; food manufacturing/bottling preferred.
  • Ability to use machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Ability to read mechanical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls and components.
  • Experience in pipe fitting, welding, and machining.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Experience with TPM or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.

Work Environment

Work on the day shift (Shift A & C), from 6:30 am to 7 pm, in a GMP food and beverage company environment. The dress code is casual, but no jewelry, makeup, or long nails are allowed on the floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
