Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to conduct field work documenting as-built conditions and damage to structural systems caused by natural events, such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes, or human-induced origins like design and construction errors. The role involves utilizing building codes, technical knowledge of structural behavior, and construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations and perform cause and origin analyses. You will evaluate design drawings and documentation, communicate effectively with clients, interface with code officials and contractors, and manage multiple project assignments, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
Responsibilities
- Document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems from natural and human-induced events.
- Utilize building codes and technical knowledge to establish repair scope recommendations.
- Conduct cause and origin analyses.
- Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
- Communicate with clients and interface with code officials and contractors.
- Provide detailed reports.
- Manage multiple project assignments, ensuring on-time and within-budget completion.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- New Jersey Licensed Professional Engineer through NCEES examination.
- Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering experience in design or other relevant experience.
- Knowledge of various construction types including Cement, Steel, Concrete, Wood frame, Masonry, and Building Envelopes.
- Ability to travel throughout the US on short notice.
- Physical ability to carry and climb ladders for roof access and navigate steep-slope roofing.
- Eligibility to work in the United States and a good driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Field experience.
- Experience in providing litigation support, including expert testimony at depositions, trials, mediation, and arbitration proceedings.
- Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to retain and develop client relationships.
This is a Permanent position based out of Hillsborough, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
