Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Grinder Operator, where you will play a vital role in assisting with general production labor needs. Your duties will include tasks such as deburring parts, punching cut parts out of sheet metal, placing and organizing punched parts onto pallets, and operating machinery like the PEM inserter. You will ensure work areas remain clean and adhere to environmental and safety policies, maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general production labor needs, including deburring parts.
- Punch cut parts out of sheet metal.
- Place and organize punched parts onto pallets.
- Move materials using pallet jack and/or forklift to appropriate work areas.
- Operate the PEM inserter machine.
- Ensure work areas are clean and clear of debris, placing scrap material in proper receptacles.
- Comply with environmental and safety policies and regulations.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in using grinders, polishing, and finishing machines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Experience with hand tools and buffing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively with limited to no supervision.
- Experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Willingness to adapt and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand and bend frequently.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled production environment.

Work Environment
The position offers a structured work schedule with two shifts: First Shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, and Second Shift runs Monday through Friday from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am. Employees enjoy a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks. The workplace is unionized under IBEW Local Union 3, with a 45-day probationary period. Benefits include healthcare coverage starting six months from hire, vacation time after six months, and sick time available after one year. Union dues and fees apply. The facility is a non-climate-controlled production environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Kearny, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
Medical/Dental/Vision/HRA/Annuity – 6 months from the date of hire. Vacation Time – will begin effective June 30th, after 6 months of continuous employment. Sick Time – will begin after 1 year of continuous employment. Mandatory Union Dues - $6/week, $24/month. Mandatory One Time $176 Union application fee. 12 Paid holidays.
