Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description
The Lab Technician will be responsible for sample testing throughout all stages of the life cycle of raw materials, ensuring quality documentation and adherence to GMP environmental protocol in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct raw material testing, chemical analysis, and wet chemistry procedures.
- Analyze samples for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Maintain batch records and adhere to GMP guidelines.
- Utilize analytical instrumentation such as GC-MS and autoclaves.
- Perform viscosity, density, pH testing, and NIR analysis.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in raw material testing and chemical analysis.
- Experience with GMP protocols and wet chemistry techniques.
- Knowledge of analytical instrumentation and procedures such as melting point and viscosity.
- Ability to conduct Ph testing and NIR analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biological Sciences.
- Ideal experience of 2 years in food, flavor, or chemical manufacturing environments, but 1 year is acceptable.
- Familiarity with Gas Chromatography and other analytical instruments.
- Skill in wet chemistry techniques including saponification and hydroxyl value.
- Ability to standardize chemicals and solutions.
Work Environment
The work environment is fast-paced with a close-knit team. Lab technicians will typically work with 1-2 other people in the lab at a time. The role involves alternating 12-hour shifts, with a schedule that includes working 48 hours one week and 36 hours the next. The shift pattern follows a 6am-6pm schedule, with occasional flexibility to work night shifts from 6pm-6am. There is a 6-week training period on the day shift from 8am-4pm. Employees enjoy double time for working holidays, above market pay, and four weeks of PTO once converted to full-time.
